How to Buy Reading Glasses
Looking for a new pair of reading glasses? Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you find and order the right lenses, whether you need extra clarity for digital screens or something standard for everyday use.
Step 1: Select Your Prescription Type
First choose "Select lenses", then on the lens selection page, start by choosing "Reading" as your Prescription Type. This option is specifically designed for users who need reading glasses rather than general-purpose lenses or distance glasses.
Step 2: Choose Your Reading Strength
Next, select your Reading Strength Level based on your prescription or the level you need for reading comfort. Common strength options are available in increments, such as +0.25, +2.00, and up to +6.00. Choose the one that best fits your needs.
Once you’ve selected your strength, click on Save and Continue to move to the next step.
Step 3: Select Your Lens Type
Here’s where you can choose the type of lens that best suits your lifestyle and needs. Different options include:
- Blue Light Blocking: Protect your eyes from the negative effects of screen time. Ideal if you spend a lot of time on digital devices.
- Standard Eyeglass Lenses: Traditional lenses that are perfect for everyday use.
- Transitions and Photochromic: Lenses that adapt to changing light, becoming darker outdoors and clear indoors.
- Essilor Crizal®: High-quality lenses with UV protection and a variety of protective coatings.
- Sunglass Lenses: Tinted lenses that turn your reading glasses into sunglasses for outdoor reading.
- Polarized Sunglass Lenses: Great for outdoor activities, offering glare reduction and UV protection.
- Driving Lenses: Specialized for safe driving, providing bright and high-definition vision.
Select the lens type that aligns with your usage. For example, if you’ll be reading a lot on a screen, Blue Light Blocking is a great choice.
Step 4: Choose the Lens Material
After selecting the lens type, you can now choose the specific lens material based on thickness, durability, and additional features:
- 1.61 High-Index (Pro): Recommended for moderate prescriptions, featuring UV protection, anti-scratch, and anti-reflective coatings.
- 1.67 Mid-Index: A thinner and lighter option with anti-scratch and anti-reflective coatings.
- 1.67 High-Index: A higher-quality option with added impact resistance.
- 1.74 High-Index: Thinnest and lightest, designed for high prescriptions (if available).
